AWARENESS OF THE MENTAL CAPACITY ACT 2005

Do you support people who at times lack mental capacity or are interested in finding out more? If so, this Level 3
qualification is ideal. You gain the knowledge and understanding required to provide support and care to individuals in
accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005. You also cover the importance of complying with the Mental Capacity
Act 2005 Code of Practice when working with individuals who lack mental capacity. You will need to have a good level of
English and on the first class you will undertake an assessment to confirm this. Please note, you will attend College on
alternate weeks for six weeks (term time only).

‘The course is very well led and provides teaching in a variety of different
styles. I have learnt a lot from being on this course and managed to relate
the academic side of the material to how it relates to my work role.
My tutor John is very helpful in providing contextual examples often
based on his prior work experience and manages to make the content
accessible to me and the other students on the course. He also uses
humour as part of his teaching which makes the course more enjoyable.
Feedback on work submitted is prompt and I am able to ask for extra
clarity regarding this if needed.’
SUPPORTING INDIVIDUALS ON THE AUTISTIC SPECTRUM LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE (AIM)

Do you support people with autism? This qualification is ideal whether you are working in statutory, private or voluntary
services as the broad range covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas providing support to
individuals with autism. You must provide direct support, as observations of you in your workplace supporting individuals
on the Autistic Spectrum will be needed for completion of the course. You will develop your understanding of the
challenges faced by people with autism and learn how to address the individual’s specific needs. As this course requires
a good level of English, you will undertake an assessment during the first class to confirm your place. Please note,
you will attend College on alternate weeks (term time only) for the first 8 weeks.
