CERTIFICATE IN EDUCATION (CERT.ED.) IN-SERVICE LIFELONG LEARNING<br />

No fee reduction available, but you may apply for a loan<br />

This course leads to a professional qualification if you are already teaching in Further Education<br />

<strong>College</strong>s, Adult Education, Higher Education or a wide range of other training and educational<br />

settings outside the schools sector. Please note that the course does not confer Qualified<br />

Teacher Status (QTS) for those working or intending to work in schools, although currently it is<br />

possible for people with QTLS to obtain work as a qualified teacher in schools.<br />

You should normally be in paid employment, as a teacher or trainer, for a minimum of 100 hours (at least 50 hours in<br />

any one year) at a recognised training or educational establishment. Voluntary teaching/training may be acceptable<br />

in some circumstances. You should also have HNC, CGLI Advanced, the NVQ Level 3/4, or professional qualifications<br />

and significant work experience in the area you teach (where appropriate to the subject field). If you hold a basic<br />

teaching qualification (such as DTLLS <strong>Part</strong> One) or have substantial knowledge and experience of teaching you may<br />

be able to make a claim for accreditation of prior learning. Nationally, current trainees include people with a broad<br />

range of expertise gained in many sectors and all subject areas. You are required to identify a work-based mentor who<br />

can support you in your subject specialism. Attendance is on 12 Saturdays throughout the year (<strong>2016</strong> - Sep <strong>17</strong>th & 24th,<br />

Oct 15th, Nov 12th, Dec 10th, 20<strong>17</strong> - Jan 7th, Feb 4th, Mar 11th, Apr 1st & 29th, May 6th & 20th) with a visit one evening in<br />

September to the library at The University of Huddersfield. Admission is through attendance at a 2 hour workshop, held<br />

on various dates throughout the year and a one-to-one interview with a member of the team. If you are interested in<br />
