The survey sample was a weighted sample of both residents and ratepayers and<br />

included some respondents who did not pay rates (this was allocated on a<br />

demographically representative basis. Full details of the method used and sample<br />

selected is provided in the IRIS report Appendix 5<br />

The questions were reviewed and critically analysed by IRIS to ensure that they<br />

would allow for a representative sample to be obtained<br />

6.2.3 Listening Posts<br />

Two listening posts were conducted at Nowra Shopping centre and Ulladulla Civic<br />

Centre on December 21 and 22. These included <strong>Council</strong> staff attending and provided<br />

brochures and an opportunity for the community to provide feedback on rates. In<br />

Nowra 30 people were contacted and in Ulladulla 15 people were contacted.<br />

The feedback from these listening posts was that the community were aware of the<br />

proposal and many had already received a rate brochure in the mail. Most did not<br />

provide a strong opinion about the rates proposal.<br />

6.2.4 <strong>Community</strong> Meetings<br />

The <strong>Shoalhaven</strong> Independents, CCBs and community groups organised their own<br />

community meetings during both stage three (3) and stage four (4) of the community<br />

engagement process. It is understood that details of these is provided in the<br />

submission from the <strong>Shoalhaven</strong> Independents which will be provided directly to<br />

IPART.<br />

6.2.5 <strong>Shoalhaven</strong> <strong>Council</strong> Website<br />

A specific engagement portal was established for online engagement as well as<br />

<strong>Council</strong>’s website for stage four (4) of the engagement process. This method was<br />

used to seek increased online engagement and comment. The dedicated<br />

engagement portal for the Your <strong>Rate</strong>s Everybody’s Future can be viewed at:<br />
