After a well informed discussion the Meeting resolved to agree to a rates increase of<br />

6.5% (5% plus the rate peg increase of 1.5%) for ONE YEAR only pending the<br />

decision of the NSW Government on the <strong>Report</strong> from the Independent Pricing and<br />

Regulatory Tribunal which submitted the findings of its Enquiry to Government on<br />

19 December. Those recommendations could have far reaching effects on many<br />

ratepayers and any consideration of a rates increase should await the Government’s<br />

decision.<br />

In addition the meeting resolved also that BP&K <strong>Community</strong> Association join<br />

with other community consultative groups to approach the Mayor and <strong>Council</strong><br />

to convey this decision and seek an independent review of <strong>Council</strong> finances<br />

and contracting practices.<br />

1 The HWCV is not convinced by <strong>Council</strong>’s impending request to NSW IPART for<br />

rates increases for 2017‐18 and beyond. We understand the calculations, but<br />

the policy justification is too opaque.<br />
