Collaborating with youth and athletes<br />
In support of the Nunavimmiut youth and wishing to make her<br />
dreams a reality, Nunavik Creations provided a sealskin parka to Elizabeth<br />
Irqumia-Steinberg who got an audition with the famous company, “John<br />
Robert Powers”, who recruits all kinds of talent ranging from acting to<br />
modelling. Congratulations, Elizabeth, for your successful audition and<br />
for having been accepted to become one of their future students.<br />
Marie-Victorin College’s first year students are required to do a<br />
project every semester that gives them an opportunity to research aspects<br />
of the Inuit culture and to communicate their results at the end of the<br />

CEGEP students visit the Nunavik Creations production room in Montreal.<br />
semester. This year, the four students (Josie Amamatuak,<br />
Lisa-Louie Ittukallak, Susan Nulukie and Caroline Tulugak)<br />
decided to work as a group to produce Inuit clothing and<br />
specialized tools. Their project was to create a mannequin<br />
along with the clothing to dress it. In February, Lysanne<br />
Lacoste-Guyon, the student’s supervisor, met with Nunavik<br />
Creations in order to discuss the students’ project and see<br />
how it could be achieved. Students were also given many<br />
pieces of fabric and furs that they used for their project.<br />
Nunavik Creations staff in Montreal had great pleasure in<br />
attending the final presentation on May 14 th .<br />
Nunavik Creations provided two sealskin vests with<br />
the Ivakkak logo inlayed on the back to the Ivakkak 2010<br />
winners in order to congratulate them for their endurance<br />
and success. Our seamstresses Betsy, Daisy and<br />
Janet made these vests during their recent fur training<br />
in Montreal.<br />
