one day, for a total of 73 kilometres.
At the arrival in Tasiujaq, the second last community
before the finish line, there was quite a vocal supporting
crowd at the community checkpoint. The Inuit of Tasiujaq
cheered each team as they arrived at the checkpoint. In the
evening the community held a feast at the local gymnasium
where the municipality gave out prizes to the mushers and
to some community members.
Two days after the Tasiujaq departure, for a total of 11
days from Quaqtaq to Kuujjuaq, the teams arrived at a mild
and rainy finish line. There was a large crowd at Stewart Lake
to greet them until the rain began to fall so hard that most
people had to flee for shelter. A number of Kuujjuamiut got to
see the dog teams arriving from above in a helicopter, thanks
to the Nunavik Rotors and helicopter pilot Peter Duncan.
On that evening, the mushers celebrated with a supper
at the Kuujjuaq Inn. The local recreation committee organized a community
feast on the following night, where the medals and prizes were
