groups to experience powerful pressures for conformity, which suppress dissenting views and

We also examine why teams often find themselves riddled with indecision. Most importantly,
we examine how groups can stimulate constructive conflict, as well as achieve consensus and
timely closure so that they can overcome these problems and make better decisions.
Leaders must behave differently to improve decision making in their organisations.
Specifically, leaders have to dispel the notion that they must have all the answers to tough
problems. Instead, they must view their responsibility as designing the decision-making
processes that help the organisation make better choices. Leaders have to create productive
dialogues in their organisations, and to do so, they have to understand the pitfalls that are
described in this course, as well as the techniques that can be used to enhance decisionmaking
effectiveness.
