� Ensure that athletes wear credentials at all times.<br />
� Ensure that athletes are properly attired.<br />
� Ensure that athletes report to competition areas on time.<br />
� Assist in counting baggage and personal items, when necessary.<br />
� Assist athletes in participating in other activities, such as the Healthy Athletes<br />
Program.<br />
� Assist in maximizing the benefits achieved through participation.<br />
� Help athletes to be in the right place at the right time for special events.<br />
� Know the medical history <strong>of</strong> all athletes under their supervision, and ensure<br />
that prescribed medications are taken at the appropriate times.<br />
� Accompany at all times the athletes under their supervision in case they need<br />
provision <strong>of</strong> medical care and/or need to be transferred to a hospital.<br />
� Ensure that their <strong>Delegation</strong> members comply with rules that apply to their<br />
accommodation venues as well as to the competition venues, such as:<br />
o The consumption <strong>of</strong> alcoholic beverages and / or controlled<br />
substances is prohibited.<br />
o The use <strong>of</strong> any tobacco products at all venues is prohibited.<br />
o Inappropriate contact with athletes or volunteers is prohibited.<br />
� Ensure that all athletes understand the Athletes’ Responsibilities listed below.<br />
6.1.3 Athletes’ Responsibilities<br />
Athletes participating in the SOWSG ATHENS 2011 must accept and carry out the<br />
following responsibilities. Any disregard or violation <strong>of</strong> these responsibilities may<br />
result in the individual being disqualified from competition:<br />
� Abide by the clauses and spirit <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Special</strong> <strong>Olympics</strong> Rules and be<br />
responsible for conducting themselves in a sportsmanlike manner at all<br />
times. Pr<strong>of</strong>anity, taunting and other forms <strong>of</strong> poor sportsmanship are subject<br />
to immediate ejection from competition.<br />
� Participate honestly and with maximum effort in all preliminary trials and / or<br />
finals.<br />
� Be knowledgeable about the existing <strong>Special</strong> <strong>Olympics</strong> and International<br />
Governing Body Rules and Regulations applicable to their sport and be<br />
prepared for competition in accordance with those Rules.<br />
� Respect all competition facilities and equipment.<br />
� Treat all athletes, volunteers and competition <strong>of</strong>ficials with respect and<br />
communicate in a courteous manner.<br />
