General Revelation
The insight into God's character that history,
human behavior, conscience, and nature provide is
frequently called "general revelation" because it is
available to all and appeals to reason.
For millions, "The heavens declare the glory of
God; and the firmament shows His handiwork" (Ps.
19:1). The sunshine, rain, hills, and streams, all
testify of a loving Creator. "For since the creation
of the world His invisible attributes are clearly
seen, being understood by the things that are made,
even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they
are without excuse" (Rom. 1:20).
Others see evidence of a caring God in the
happy relationships and extraordinary love between
friends, family members, husband and wife,
parents and children. "As one whom his mother
comforts, so I will comfort you" (Isa. 66:13). "As a
father pities his children, so the Lord pities those
who fear Him" (Ps. 103:13).
