According to His human nature He "was born <strong>of</strong><br />

the seed <strong>of</strong> David" (Rom.1:3; 9:5) and was the<br />

"Son <strong>of</strong> Mary" (Mark 6:3). Though He was born <strong>of</strong><br />

a woman as is every other child, there was a great<br />

difference, a uniqueness. Mary was a virgin, and<br />

this Child was conceived <strong>of</strong> the Holy Spirit (Matt.<br />

1:20-23; Luke 1:31-37). He could claim true<br />

humanity through His mother.<br />

2. His human development<br />

Jesus was subject to the laws <strong>of</strong> human<br />

development; He "grew and became strong in<br />

spirit, filled with wisdom" (Luke 2:40, 52). At the<br />

age <strong>of</strong> 12 He became aware <strong>of</strong> His divine mission<br />

(Luke 2:46-49). Throughout His boyhood He was<br />

subject to His parents (Luke 2:51).<br />

The road to the cross was one <strong>of</strong> constant<br />

growth through suffering, which played an<br />

important role in His development. "He learned<br />

obedience by the things which He suffered. And<br />

having been perfected, He became the author <strong>of</strong><br />
