16:31), and "Even to your old age, I am He, and<br />

even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made,<br />

and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver<br />

you" (Isa. 46:4).<br />

In the church, singles may find a special place<br />

to be loved and cherished and to share their love<br />

and energies as well. Through its ministry they can<br />

come to sense God's care for them: "'Yes, I have<br />

loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with<br />

lovingkindness I have drawn you'" (Jer. 31:3).<br />

It is part <strong>of</strong> "pure religion" to give special care<br />

to those in need (James 1:27; Ex. 22:22; Deut.<br />

24:17; 26:12; Prov. 23:10; Isa. 1:17). The church<br />

family has a special opportunity to provide a<br />

haven, a shelter, a place <strong>of</strong> belonging to those who<br />

do not have a family; it may surround and include<br />

each member in the special unity that Christ said<br />

would be the mark <strong>of</strong> Christianity itself (John<br />

17:20-23).<br />
