glory" (2 Cor. 3:18). "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus,<br />

the author and perfecter <strong>of</strong> our faith. ... Consider<br />

him who endured such opposition from sinful men,<br />

so that you will not grow weary and lose heart"<br />

(Heb. 12:2, 3, NIV). Truly, Christ "suffered for us,<br />

leaving us an example, that you should follow His<br />

steps" (1 Peter 2:21; cf. John 13:15).<br />

The Union <strong>of</strong> the Two Natures<br />

The person <strong>of</strong> Jesus Christ has two natures:<br />

divine and human. He is the Godman. But note that<br />

the incarnation involved the eternal Son <strong>of</strong> God<br />

taking on Himself human nature, not the man Jesus<br />

acquiring divinity. The movement is from God to<br />

man, not man to God.<br />

In Jesus, these two natures were merged into<br />
