4. The influence of her ministry
More than a century has passed since Ellen
White received the prophetic gift. Her church and
the lives of those who have heeded her counsels
reveal the impact of her life and messages.
"Although she never held an official position,
was not an ordained minister, and never received a
salary from the church until after the death of her
husband, her influence shaped the Seventh-day
Adventist Church more than any other factor
except the Holy Bible."[19] She was the moving
force behind the establishment of the church's
publishing work, schools, medical-missionary
work, and the worldwide missionary outreach that
has made the Seventh-day Adventist Church one of
the largest and fastest growing Protestant
missionary organizations.
