condemned their actions and provided elaborate<br />

requirements for reconciliation with God. From<br />

Sinai until Christ's death, transgressors <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Decalogue found hope, forgiveness, and cleansing<br />

by faith in the gospel portrayed by the sanctuary<br />

services <strong>of</strong> the ceremonial law.<br />

The Law and the Gospel After the Cross. As<br />

many Christians have observed, the Bible indicates<br />

that while Christ's death abolished the ceremonial<br />

law, it affirmed the continued validity <strong>of</strong> the moral<br />

law.[20] Note the evidence:<br />

1. The ceremonial law<br />

When Christ died, He fulfilled the prophetic<br />

symbolism <strong>of</strong> the sacrificial system. Type met<br />

antitype, and the ceremonial law came to an end.<br />

Centuries earlier Daniel had predicted that the<br />

death <strong>of</strong> the Messiah would "bring an end to<br />

sacrifice and <strong>of</strong>fering" (Dan. 9:27; see chapter 4 <strong>of</strong><br />

this book). When Jesus died, the veil <strong>of</strong> the temple<br />

was supernaturally torn in two from top to bottom<br />

(Matt. 27:51), indicating the end <strong>of</strong> the spiritual<br />
