c. To give His life for the sins <strong>of</strong> the world<br />

Christ's divine nature cannot die. In order to<br />

die, then, Christ had to have a human nature. He<br />

became man and paid the penalty for sin, which is<br />

death (Rom. 6:23; 1 Cor. 15:3). As a human being<br />

He tasted death for everyone (Heb. 2:9).<br />

d. To be our example<br />

To set the example as to how people should<br />

live, Christ must live a sinless life as a human<br />

being. As the second Adam He dispelled the myth<br />

that humans cannot obey God's law and have<br />

victory over sin. He demonstrated that it is possible<br />

for humanity to be faithful to God's will. Where the<br />

first Adam fell, the second Adam gained the<br />

victory over sin and Satan and became both our<br />

Saviour and our perfect example. In His strength<br />

His victory can be ours (John 16:33).<br />

By beholding Him, people "are being<br />
