9 Using SNMP<br />

The Simple Network <strong>Management</strong> Protocol (SNMP) is an application-layer protocol that allows<br />

communication between SNMP managers and SNMP agents on an IPv4 as well as on an IPv6 network.<br />

Network administrators use SNMP to monitor network performance and to manage network resources.<br />

In This Chapter<br />

This chapter describes SNMP and how to use it through the Command Line Interface (CLI). CLI<br />

commands are used in the configuration examples; for more details about the syntax of commands, see the<br />

Omni<strong>Switch</strong> <strong>AOS</strong> Release 8 CLI Reference <strong>Guide</strong>.<br />

Configuration procedures described in this chapter include:<br />
