4 Using the CLI<br />

Alcatel-Lucent’s Command Line Interface (CLI) is a text-based configuration interface that allows you to<br />

configure switch applications and to view switch statistics. Each CLI command applicable to the switch is<br />

defined in the Omni<strong>Switch</strong> <strong>AOS</strong> Release 8 CLI Reference <strong>Guide</strong>. All command descriptions listed in the<br />

Reference <strong>Guide</strong> include command syntax definitions, defaults, usage guidelines, example screen output,<br />

and release history.<br />

This chapter describes various rules and techniques that will help you use the CLI to its best advantage.<br />
