7. CALCULATE THE QUANTITY OF BITUMINOUS MIX REQUIRED<br />

7.1 Measure the dimensions (height, length and width) of the compaction mold that<br />

will contain the compacted slab. Record this as H, L and W in dm.<br />

7.2 Determine the volume (V) of the mold in units of cm3.<br />

7.3 Determine the maximum specific gravity of the bituminous mix at the desired<br />

asphalt content in accordance with ASTM D 2041. Record this as Gram.<br />

7.4 Determine the target bulk specific gravity for the compacted slab based on the<br />

target air void content:<br />
