10. While recognising huge differences between <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> individual countries, <str<strong>on</strong>g>regi<strong>on</strong>al</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

similarities exist. Exporting countries should increasingly take <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir special<br />

resp<strong>on</strong>sibilities under <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Code; all countries should comply with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>cerned<br />

internati<strong>on</strong>al c<strong>on</strong>venti<strong>on</strong>s and ensure product quality meeting internati<strong>on</strong>al standards<br />

(e.g. FAO/WHO specificati<strong>on</strong>s, ISO standards, etc.); and emerging ec<strong>on</strong>omies should<br />

request assistance to attain a high <str<strong>on</strong>g>regi<strong>on</strong>al</str<strong>on</strong>g> level <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> achievement <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Code compliance.<br />

11. More informati<strong>on</strong> exchange should be encouraged between regulatory authorities <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

countries in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> regi<strong>on</strong>, particularly neighbouring countries. A harm<strong>on</strong>ized system <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

classificati<strong>on</strong> and standards would streng<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>n <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> informati<strong>on</strong> exchange and<br />

communicati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

12. All countries should have inventories <strong>on</strong> stocks <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> obsolete pesticides. Access to<br />

facilities for safe disposal <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> obsolete and left-over pesticides, and used c<strong>on</strong>tainers are<br />

needed.”<br />
