The leisure marine sector is comprised mostly of<br />

SMEs - the nine largest companies represent<br />

only 25% of the market. The UK’s growing<br />

superyacht industry, with a turnover of around<br />

£420m a year and over 3,600 employees, is globally<br />

recognised and a significant sector. The leisure sector<br />

mixes service and manufacturing, from surveyors<br />

and charterers to specialist equipment manufacturers<br />

and three world leading marine leisure clothing<br />

brands, with many of the leading international yacht<br />

designers also based in the UK.<br />

VAVA II<br />

Launched in 2009 and finally completed in 2012,<br />

the 97m yacht is the largest yacht built in the UK<br />

by Devonport Yachts in Plymouth, since bought<br />

by Pendennis Shipyard. The exterior designer was<br />

Redman Whitely Dixon.<br />
