He said: “I’ll keep doing what I love – making music, entertaining<br />
audiences, and perhaps surprising people along the way. And<br />
beyond the stage, Vendetta will continue to be my sanctuary,<br />
my escape.<br />
“Music and the sea have been constants in my later life, and I<br />
can’t imagine one without the other. So, as long as the melodies<br />
keep flowing and the oceans keep calling, you can be sure to find<br />
me sailing into the sunset, embracing the beauty of both worlds.”<br />
As for the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s take on the current<br />
music scene, he is wise and wily enough to accept the tide has<br />
changed.<br />
“It’s a very different place to when I was growing up,” he says.<br />
“The landscape is crowded, confused, and in many cases instantly<br />
disposable.<br />
“It was hard work for me getting noticed and getting signed,<br />
but you always felt that once you were there, you’d be there<br />
for a good amount of time.<br />
“If I had to give advice to young musicians coming through now,<br />
it would be to stay true to your passion and stay committed to<br />
your craft, but I realise that’s difficult because everyone wants to<br />
be heard, and that can mean things become stale and formulaic.<br />
“In this ever-changing world, it’s easy to get caught up in trends<br />
and pressures to conform, but the key to longevity is being true<br />
to yourself, because it’s honesty and relatability that make music,<br />
and the other pleasures in life, timeless.”<br />
