ONBOARD Magazine autumn 2023

ONBOARD is aimed purely at the superyacht professional – whether onboard or shoreside. 100% of your spend will hit your targets on the Mediterranean from Palma in Mallorca, Barcelona, through France to Genoa and beyond together with Montenegro and the Aegean, plus the eastern seaboard of Florida. We hand deliver every copy to superyachts over 30m to make sure your message gets in to the hands of the decision makers on board. The publication is also delivered to relevant businesses around the ports and marinas together with shipyards. We also attend the major yacht shows in Monaco, FLIBS, METS, Boote Dusseldorf, Palma and MYBA for on site distribution. Plus, we post over 500 copies to relevant businesses not on the Mediterranean such as the UK, the Netherlands, Germany the rest of northern Europe and of course the USA and Caribbean. We work hard to develop a publication that all the crew and land based decision makers will read from cover to cover. An enjoyable and informative read for everyone means your message will be read. Talking about your brand, product, services and your team is essential and with our help, the message hits the right decision makers.

Approved levels for oil
in water discharge from
bilges are 15ppm in oceans
and coastal areas, and
5ppm in PSSAs, areas
which are increasingly
popular to explore. Wave’s
new sophisticated filter
technology makes adhering
to these levels easy. The
Wave MiniBoss Oily Water
Separator automatically
removes all traces of
pollutants to 15ppm or
5ppm and is IMO, ABS and
USCG Type Approved to
MEPC.107(49). Compact
and lightweight, it does
not create waste oil. A
monitor sets the required
outfall quality with an 18
month log of bilge pumping
operations, essential
to prove compliance if
required. With more
environmental awareness,
using the latest filter
technology everywhere on
board – bilges, grey water,
hotel services and even for
rinse down water – makes
it easy and affordable to
operate sustainably.
We take for granted
energy intensity labels that
are commonplace when
we visit car dealerships or
buy homes and household
appliances. Surprisingly,
the superyacht industry
and wider boating
sector still struggle
with implementing such
concepts. However,
there is hope for best
practices. As creators of
the SEA Index superyacht
CO2 benchmarking tool,
we’ve been measuring
energy intensity and
carbon emissions since
2020. As a non-profit,
our mission is to assist
buyers and charterers in
making informed choices
by selecting less energy
intensive vessels. We
provide CO2 certification
for both new and existing
yachts, ensuring credibility
and transparency through
independent verification
by a class society (Lloyd’s
Register) who issue the
certificates on our behalf.
Why are we truly
committed towards
greater sustainability?
Simple, because the
world is monitoring our
credibility.
Greece is amongst
the top five countries in
the world with the most
superyacht owners and it
has always had a strong
international presence
within the yachting world.
Sea Alliance Group (SAG)
recently expanded into
Greece offering a range of
services for this sector
from our new Athenian
Riviera offices. As a
cruising destination,
Greece continues to grow
in popularity, however,
Greece has the smallest
amount of berths per km of
coastline. This brings huge
opportunities for marina
management and being
one of the only yachting
companies in the world
with an “in house” marina
management company,
SAG is participating
in various exciting new
tenders and developments.
As a result, we are seeing
increasing investment in
the area and many service
providers, such as SAG are
supporting developments
there and helping to
bring the Greek yachting
industry to the next level.
Yes they can. In the past
10 years ceramic coatings
have evolved and with the
development of our removal
gel it means that vessels
can have the coating
removed successfully prior
to a paint job. Our removal
gel dissolves the ceramic
coating revealing the
original paint beneath. We
have successfully removed
many coatings from
vessels prior to a paint job
without any problems for
various painting companies
around the world. Not all
ceramic coatings need
to be removed prior to
a painting programme.
It is only the thicker 10
micron coating which has
been designed to be extra
durable and which is applied
in the exhaust areas of the
hull for extra protection
from soot and exhaust
staining that requires
the removal process. Our
thinner coatings which
have been designed for the
superstructure and nonhigh
ware areas of the hull
do not need the removal.
