A large shop addition will be built immediately by
the Northwest Engineering Works at Green Bay,
Wis., to meet demand for its crawler type crane, which,
is its principal product. General sales offices are in
the Steger Building, Chicago.
General Motors Corporation has taken over the
patent rights of Gray-Hawley Manufacturing Company
for the manufacture of pressed steel mufflers,
heaters and exhaust systems. The buyer also has
taken over the tools, dies, jigs and equipment used in
the production of these accessories and the orders
and contracts of the Gray-Hawley Company. The
latter will continue to manufacture other automotive
devices.

Carnegie Steel Company has exercised its option
on a tract of 80 acres at Baton Rouge. La., which it
buys as a site for a future steel transfer station and
distributing point for the South and for export. Construction
of the transfer station will be undertaken
when the Ohio River becomes navigable throughout
the year, which is expected to take place in the next
five years.

A general consulting engineering service in metallurgy,
production and application of aluminum and
aluminum alloys, will be offered by Robert J. Anderson.
Cleveland and Pittsburgh. The variety of service
includes advice and information on aluminum ores.

Haynes Stellite Company, manufacturers of stellite
metal cutting tools and other articles of high speed,
rust and corrosion resisting alloys, has just completed
concentration of the company's activities at its plant
at Kokomo, Ind. All service in connection with the
company's products will hereafter be direct from the
plant. Headquarters for administration, sales and
engineering activities will be at Kokomo, under the
direction of G. G. Chisholm, general manager.
Wilson Foundry & Machine Company, Pontiac,
Mich., D. R. Wilson, general manager, has bought the
plant and equipment of the Michigan Drop Forge
Company, adjacent to its plant. It will be used for expansion
of the purchasing company
Dennison Alloy & Steel Castings Company, Dennison,
Ohio, has purchased the patent rights, patterns,
molds, finished and unfinished products of the bankrupt
Martin Shovel Company, Greensburg, Pa. The
company was engaged in the manufacture of shovels
and gasoline tractors. Offices were maintained at

Greensburg. Manufacturing is to be done in Dennison.

The American Taximeter Company, 16 Wrest Sixtyfirst
Street, New York, recently incorporated, plans to
manufacture recording instruments. Nothing definite
has been decided in the matter of manufacturing.

The Harley plant, Indian Motorcycle Company,
East Springfield, Mass., was not sold at auction recently
as scheduled because of unsatisfactory bids.
Equipment, however, was sold, among the buyers being
Moore Drop Forging Company, Storms Drop
Forging Company, M. Alport, Springfield and Billings
Spencer Company, Hartford, Conn. The Harley
plant was equipped for drop forging.

M. P. Dahl Tool & Die Company. Indianapolis,
Ind., will remove soon to a new building at Twelfth
and Illinois Streets, where it will have increased facilities.

Illinois Bronze & Iron Works is the new name of
the former Illinois Bronze & Stamping Company. Its
capital also has been increased from 100 shares no
par value to 400 shares no par value.

A-\tlas Drop Forge Company, Lansing, Mich., has
moved its new plant, built to give larger production
facilities.

C. C. Elsener has entered business as the Diamond
Machine Works, 1215 South Fifty-second Avenue,
Cicero, 111., a suburb of Chicago, as engineer and designer
of special machinery, dies, tools, metal stampings
and auto parts.

Gibb Wielding Machine Company, Bay City, Mich.,
successor to Gibb Instrument Company, manufacturer
of electric welding equipment, has appointed Arthur
Jackson, 32 Glenholme Avenue, Toronto, Ont., as sales
representative for Ontario and Eastern Canada.
A. O. Smith Corporation, Milwaukee has shipped
its first complete unit for converting crude oil into
gasoline and by-products. This equipment was made
possible by development of a new electric arc welding
process which first was applied to manufacturing casing
couplings for joining pipe lines and later to refinery
vessels. The unit consists of four cracking stills,
one bubble tower and a reflux exchanger, weighing
215 tons.

The Welded Products Company, Birmingham,
manufacturing oil and gasoline steel tanks has purchased
adjacent property and will double the capacity
of its plant.

The Michigan Sheet Metal Works, Lansing, Mich.,
is having plans drawn for a one-story addition to
double, approximately, the present capacity. Considerable
additional machinery will lie installed. E. B.
