GENERAL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Student Conduct Policy
The Illinois Ins� tute of Art recognizes its students as responsible
and dedicated men and women who are preparing
for career employment. An integral part of their career
and professional development is the expecta� on that they
conduct themselves during the educa� on process in the
same manner as will be expected in all employment situa-
� ons.
The College reserves the right to suspend or to terminate
any student who displays conduct detrimental to the
educa� onal environment or to the wellbeing of fellow students,
faculty/staff members, and guests within The Illinois
Ins� tute of Art any sponsored ac� vi� es, or facili� es.
Students who copy or otherwise plagia rize the artwork
assignment projects of others or who otherwise display
conduct det rimental to their own or others academic
progress are also subject to disciplinary ac� on. The above
behaviors violate The Illinois Ins� tute of Art Student Conduct
Policy but this is not an exhaus � ve list. The complete

Alcohol and Drug Policy
In accordance with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988,
The Illinois Ins� tute of Art is commi� ed, as a recipient
of federal aid funds for students, to provide a drug-free
workplace. The unlawful manufacture, distribu� on, dispensa�
on, possession or use of a controlled substance is
prohibited in the workplace. Students in viola� on of this
prohibi� on are subject to appropriate personnel ac� on, up
to and including termina� on.
The Illinois Ins� tute of Art has established a drug-free
awareness program available to all students. This program
provides informa� on about the dangers of drug abuse, our
policy of maintain ing a drug-free environment, available
drug counseling, and rehabilita� on programs and the penal�
es which may be imposed on students for drug abuse
viola� ons occurring at the College or in school spon sored
housing.
135 Student Conduct
The College is required to no� fy the federal government of
any drug convic� on within ten days of receiving no� fi ca-
� on from the student or otherwise receiving actual no� ce
of such convic� on. A student who is so convicted will be
subject to termina� on and/or the loss of any approved
federal or state student aid.
We fully support the federal government’s ini� a� ve to
encourage the maintenance of a drug-free environment.
We ask all of the student’s coop era� on in suppor� ng this

Campus Security Policy
The Illinois Ins� tute of Art faculty, staff and administra� on
are concerned that every student enjoys a safe secure stay
with the college. Crime awareness and campus security
are ma� ers for which every student must take personal
responsibility. The Illinois Ins� tute of Art Student Conduct
Codes strictly prohibits the possession of weapons and the
unlawful use of alcohol, controlled substances, and drugs
on the campus or in off -campus housing. Viola� on of these
rules or criminal acts of any kind may result in prompt
disciplinary ac� on including expulsion.
The Illinois Ins� tute of Art Campus Security Policy is
distributed to every student and employee. It discusses,
among other topics, the importance of prompt reporting
of crimes to school offi cials and local police; campus
security procedures aimed at encouraging students and
employees to be responsible for their own security and the
security of others; counseling and other assistance available
from The Illinois Ins� tute of Art to any student who
may be the vic� m of a crime; and sta� s� cs on selected
crimes that The Illinois Ins� tute of Art maintains pursuant
to the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act. Students
can fi nd Crime Report and Crime sta� s� cs for The
Illinois Ins� tute of Art in the annual Student Handbook/
Planner or on MyAiCampus.com. These data are publicly
