NBCAN – NBCZZ Nursing-Facilitated Education – Speech therapy
NBCAN Anomia speech and language rehabilitation
Using speech and language rehabilitation therapy, including brain activation exercises, with a patient to
improve his or her ability to name objects and/or to recognize the written and/or spoken names of objects.
NBCAO Verbal apraxia speech and language rehabilitation
Using speech and language rehabilitation therapy, including initiating, coordinating and/or sequencing
muscle movement exercises, with a patient to improve his or her proper vocalization.
NBCAP Dysarthia speech and language rehabilitation
Using speech and language rehabilitation therapy, including drill repetition and breathing exercises, with
a patient to improve and/or maintain his or her speech function for as long as possible.
NBCAQ Dysphagia speech and language rehabilitation
Using speech and language rehabilitation therapy, including muscle retraining exercises, with a patient to
improve and/or alleviate his or her difficulty swallowing.
NBCAS Intelligibility speech and language rehabilitation individual
Using speech and language therapy techniques with a patient to assist in improving his or her speech.
NBCAT Intelligibility speech and language rehabilitation group
Using speech and language therapy techniques with patients in a group setting to assist in improving their
speech.
NBCAU Receptive speech and language rehabilitation individual
Using speech and language therapy techniques with a patient to assist in improving his or her
comprehension of another’s speech.
NBCAW Speech and language communication therapy group
Using compensatory communication strategies with patients in a group setting to improve their
deficiencies with vocal sounds, symbols, signs and/or gestures.
NBCAX Speech and language exercise therapy group
Using speech and language exercise therapy, including drill repetition and physical activity observation,
with patients in a group setting to improve their speech by increasing tone, power and range-of-motion
and mobility of the tongue.
NBCAZ Receptive speech and language rehabilitation group
Using speech and language therapy techniques with patients in a group setting to assist in improving their
comprehension of another’s speech.
