BAAAA Cold or ice pack each 20 minutes<br />

Applying a cold or ice pack, cap, collar or compress <strong>of</strong> cold water or alcohol to one or more <strong>of</strong> a client’s<br />

body parts or regions. Service is billed in 20-minute increments.<br />

BAAAB Cryotherapy chamber each 1 minute<br />

Using a cold chamber to reduce the temperature <strong>of</strong> a client’s body part, region or full body for therapeutic<br />

effect(s) (for example, to treat a migraine). Service is billed in 1-minute increments.<br />

BAAAC Hypothermic treatment body part or region each 1 minute<br />

Using extreme cold to reduce the temperature <strong>of</strong> a client’s body part or region for therapeutic effect(s) (for<br />

example, to treat a traumatic brain injury). Service is billed in 1-minute increments.<br />

BAAAD Hypothermic treatment full body each 1 minute<br />

Using extreme cold to reduce the temperature <strong>of</strong> a client’s full body for therapeutic effect(s) (for example,<br />

to treat a stroke). Service is billed in 1-minute increments.<br />

BAAAE Ice massage each 20 minutes<br />

Massaging a client’s body part or region with ice to decrease blood flow and/or inflammation <strong>of</strong> the area.<br />

Service is billed in 20-minute increments.<br />

BAAAF Cold friction each 20 minutes<br />

Rubbing a cooling agent, other than ice, on a client’s body part or region to decrease blood flow and/or<br />

inflammation <strong>of</strong> the area. Service is billed in 20-minute increments.<br />

BAAZZ Undefined cold modality narrative required<br />

Any elsewhere undefined cold modality, narrative required. To help develop more comprehensive coding,<br />

Positioning conduction pads on a client’s body to facilitate bi-polar, medium-frequency currents that<br />

intersect within muscle tissue. Service is billed in 10-minute increments.<br />

BABAI Sine wave current each 10 minutes<br />

Using sine wave currents on a client’s body part or region to contract organs and/or tissue beneath the<br />

conduction pads. Service is billed in 10-minute increments.<br />

BABAL Iontophoresis each 20 minutes<br />

Applying a substance(s) or medication(s) using a galvanic, low-voltage current on the skin <strong>of</strong> a client’s<br />

body part or region to cause transdermal substance(s) or medication(s) penetration and to treat pain,<br />

inflammation, spasm and/or calcium deposits. Service is billed in 20-minute increments.<br />
