Technical Support from ABC Coding Solutions-Alternative Link
The Company maintains a dedicated database for ABC codes, corresponding terms, expanded definitions, relative
values and relevant laws, called the HealthIntel Database (HealthIntel).
Upon receipt of each approved Request, ABC Coding Solutions-Alternative Link updates the active version of HealthIntel
through its Code Maintenance Program (CMP), a proprietary application that supports version-controlled terminology
and code maintenance and manipulation. The CMP automatically tracks additions to, changes in, and deletions of ABC
codes, terms, definitions, RVUs and laws. The CMP also ensures non-duplication of code assignment.
The CMP includes Unique Identifier numbers that support chronological traceability of ABC codes. Unique Identifier
numbers represent terminology, not ABC codes. If a service, remedy or supply changes location inside the ABC code
system, the Unique Identifier moves with the terminology (or concept). For example, if the CMP administrator moves an
ABC code to a new location, the Unique Identifier stays with the terminology in its new location and with its new ABC
code.
When the CMP administrator receives an official Request to retire a terminology and corresponding integrative
healthcare concept, the CMP tracks the retirement of the ABC code, the unique identifier and the concept. This
information remains in HealthIntel and assures the traceability of ABC code additions, changes, moves and retirements.
The CMP prevents duplication of Unique Identification numbers and ABC codes.
Upon request, ABC Coding Solutions-Alternative Link may provide other types of technical support:
• statements on the structural consistency of code terminology,
• commentary on the activities of other code development and maintenance authorities, and
• reports on healthcare industry developments, implications and imperatives.
Version Control
In coordination with RVSI, ABC Coding Solutions-Alternative Link generates content for annual updates to the
publications and electronic releases that support the use of ABC codes:
