emphasise how the preservation of fabric is not only a much more
delicate process than that of paper, but also utterly different. This
means that the costumes will need special techniques for their
preservation, far different from those needed for movies, etc.
As well as the foregoing, I think that this journey through Fellini’s
memory should not end without mentioning the wish to acquire as
soon as possible Il libro dei sogni, perhaps the most significant
document left by Fellini, and one which will permit us to add a new
interpretation to Fellini’s work, or at least more fully to understand it.
Thanks to the funds given by the Regione Emilia Romagna, it is possible
that in a short while the Fondazione will be able to obtain the
complete collection of the Maestro’s dreams, illustrated and
commented on by Fellini himself. Today, this collection is in a bank vault
and only a few pages of it are known, together with the comments of
the few who were able to see it when Fellini was alive. However, this
itself is enough to realise how important is this “collection of dreams”,
and also to surmise how interesting it will be for us to try to catalogue
its contents.
