The change in ownership also brought with it a minor revolution in the estate’s
cellars, with the winemaking process now in the hands of Cécile Javaux,
a woman. Having decided against carbonic maceration for whites and rosé,
she has succeeded in preserving the soil and climate’s true qualities and brings
to them finer, delicate characteristics as well as a more substantial presence
in the mouth.
Avec le changement de propriétaire, une petite révolution a été menée à la cave
puisque c’est maintenant une femme, Cécile Javaux, qui vinifie. Abandonnant
la macération carbonique pour les blancs et les rosés, elle conserve la typicité
donnée par les sols et le climat de la Bernarde mais appose une signature plus
délicate et fine ainsi qu’une bouche plus grasse.

In collaboration with the estate’s owner, Javaux has added a third offering alongside
the traditional Domaine La Bernarde and
Clos Bernarde: the B range, whose charming
and aromatic wines are available in all three
hues. She is also exploring new ideas, including
the processing of a small quantity of the white
in oak barrels, and even admits to working on
a private custom vintage for the owner.

Dans le même temps, elle explore de
nouvelles pistes en essayant une petite partie de
son blanc au passage en fût de chêne, autant
pour la vinification que pour l’élevage et avoue
également travailler pour une cuvée privée taillée
sur mesure pour le propriétaire.
The estate has also initiated a series of major
works. As well as modernising the workshops
and vinification buildings, the project will also
see the addition of a reception and tasting area
that opens out onto the vineyards and surrounding
hills. The same view will be shared by a number
of cabins nestled among the trees at the heart of
the estate, perfect for weekend getaways among
friends, or romantic escapes.
Dans le même temps, le domaine a mis en place
une politique de grands travaux. Outre une modernisation
des locaux de travail et de vinification,
le domaine s’adjoint d’une salle de réception
faisant également office de caveaux de dégustation,
largement ouvert sur les vignes et les collines
environnantes. Une vue dont devraient également
jouir un ensemble de cabanes cachées dans les
arbres au cœur du domaine pour des week-ends en amoureux ou entre amis.
With the La Bernarde estate planning to extend the area under cultivation
and make the most of its exceptional terroir, fine wine aficionados can look
forward to a wealth of rich new pleasures in the future.
À terme, le domaine devrait également agrandir sa surface plantée et exploiter au
mieux son terroir exceptionnel, promettant aux amateurs de vins mûrs et gourmands
de nouveaux plaisirs.
