2. Getting Started<br />
2.1 Standard Components<br />
The <strong>VDW</strong>.GOLD unit is made up of the <strong>com</strong>ponents listed below:<br />
• Central unit<br />
• Micromotor with cable, connector<br />
• Foot control<br />
• External battery charger, model Cincon Electronics Co. Ltd, TR30RAM120<br />
• Reduction gear contra-angle: Sirona <strong>VDW</strong> 6:1<br />
• Accessories:<br />
- 1 connecting lip clip cable for the apex locator with 2 lip clips<br />
- 1 connecting file clamp cable for manually operating the apex locator with 1 file clamp<br />
- 2 contra-angle sleeves<br />
• User manual and short instructions<br />
NOTE<br />
None of the <strong>VDW</strong>.GOLD <strong>com</strong>ponents are delivered disinfected or sterilised!<br />
The contra-angle, <strong>com</strong>plete with Instructions for Use, is wrapped separately and packed<br />
with the <strong>VDW</strong>.GOLD device. Refer to the contra-angle manual for instructions for use and<br />
statement of <strong>com</strong>pliance with the Directive 93/42/EEC concerning Medical Devices.<br />
2.2 Installation<br />

1. Carefully remove the unit and the accessories from their packing and place them on a flat<br />
surface.<br />
2. Check that all the <strong>com</strong>ponents listed in the STANDARD COMPONENTS section are present.<br />
3. Check that the unit serial number as read on the bottom label of the unit and the serial<br />
number on the outer carton are the same.<br />
