4. To charge the battery before the first use: insert the connector of the external battery<br />
charger in jack connector (A) on the back of the unit (for details see section 2.3).<br />
NOTE<br />
Prior to first use of the unit fully charge the battery as it is only slightly pre-loaded!<br />
Alternatively, the <strong>VDW</strong>.GOLD can be used on mains power supply.<br />
5. Plug the foot pedal cable into the jack, located on the back of the unit (E). Ensure the<br />
connection is stable.<br />
6. Plug the connecting cable with the lip clip into the mini USB port, located on the back of<br />
the unit (B). Ensure the connection is stable.<br />
If you want to carry out a stand alone length determination, plug additionally the connecting<br />
cable with the file clamp into the jack, located on the back of the unit (C). Ensure the connection<br />
is stable.<br />
NOTE<br />
To disconnect the cables, always hold at the central part of the connector and pull out.<br />
7. Insert the micromotor connector into the 9-pin metal socket (F) on the front of the unit.<br />

The connector F is a push-pull connector. To connect align the red dot on top of the male<br />
connector to the upright position to fit the guide on the female connector. Do not screw into<br />
the connector. To disconnect pull out holding the metal end of the cable very tight. Do not<br />
twist in any direction.<br />

8. Attach the 6:1 contra-angle to the micromotor. Pay attention to the separate 6:1 contraangle‘s<br />
instructions for use.<br />
