Giorgio Cespa 64° FESTIVAL PUCCINI Puccini Theatre with Turandot (2017 edition directed by Alfonso Signorini) Teatro Puccini con Turandot (edizione 2017 con la regia di Alfonso Signorini) The programme of the 64th Puccini Festival at Torre del Lago takes into consideration nearly all Giacomo Puccini’s artistic career: Messa Di Gloria, his debut in composing, proposed as a “certification test” at the “Pacini” music institute; Manon Lescaut , his first success; the operas which brought him worldwide fame La Bohème, Tosca, Madama Butterly, The Triptych which, this <strong>2018</strong>, celebrates one hundred years from its first performance, right up to his unfinished masterpiece, Turandot. The opening of the Festival has been charged to Andrea Bocelli with Messa in Gloria on 6th July. Moreover, the <strong>2018</strong> edition boasts the staging of two new productions: La Bohème with Alfonso Signorini back to directing once more and Tosca directed by Giancarlo Del Monaco. The celebrations for the 100 years of The Triptych will see the splendid and original setting of the Hungarian State Opera at Torre del Lago, directed by Ferenc Anger . What’s more, from 3rd to 30th August, the Foyer of the Gran Teatro Giacomo Puccini will host an exhibition in honour of Solomiya Krushelnytska, which through portraits, costumes, photos and works by important Ukraine painters, narrates the extraordinary career of the soprano, bewitched by Puccini and Viareggio; from 7th July, <strong>2018</strong> to 31st January, 2019 the civic museums of Villa Paolina in Viareggio will welcome “Magnifiche Presenze. Giacomo Puccini, Giovanni Pascoli, Gabriele d’Annunzio – Gli spiriti luminosi”. Al tenore Andrea Bocelli è affidata l’inaugurazione del Festival con la Messa di Gloria il 6 luglio. L’edizione <strong>2018</strong> vanta inoltre la messa in scena di due nuove produzioni: La Bohème con il ritorno alla regia di Alfonso Signorini e Tosca firmata da Giancarlo Del Monaco. Le celebrazioni per i cento anni de Il Trittico vedranno a Torre del Lago lo splendido ed originale allestimento dell’Opera di Stato Ungherese per la regia di Ferenc Anger. Inoltre dal 3 al 30 agosto, nel Foyer del Gran Teatro Giacomo Puccini, verrà ospitata la mostra in omaggio a Solomiya Krushelnytska, che racconta attraverso ritratti, costumi, foto e opere di grandi pittori ucraini la straordinaria carriera del soprano stregata da Puccini e da Viareggio; dal 7 luglio <strong>2018</strong> al 31 gennaio 2019, i musei civici di Villa Paolina a Viareggio accoglieranno “Magnifiche Presenze. Giacomo Puccini, Giovanni Pascoli, Gabriele d’Annunzio - Gli spiriti luminosi”.
