tion of “Giardino di Zago” (Zago’s Garden) next to the headquarters of the company
with the same name. One curve after another leads us to Ugolino. Going across the
golf course which has been the main reference point for Florentine golf enthusiasts
and not only for over 80 years, the road starts descending towards the city.
Before reaching the town of Grassina, we pass near the Tabernacle of Our Lady of
Bon Voyage painted by Pietro Annigoni at the corner of the street which leads to the
ancient church of San Martino a Strada. Along the Ripoli part of the Chiantigiana,
another small detour should be taken at Ponte a Ema. From here, in a few minutes,
it is possible to reach the 14th century Oratory of Santa Caterina delle Ruote.
Just a few kilometres more and here we are in the Municipality of Florence, in Piazza
Badia a Ripoli. The Chiantigiana ends here and so does our journey along this
amazing stretch of Tuscany.

fiorentini e non solo, si inizia a discendere verso la città.
Prima di entrare nell’abitato di Grassina, passiamo accanto al Tabernacolo con la
Madonna del Buon Viaggio, dipinto da Pietro Annigoni all’angolo della strada che
porta all’antica chiesa di San Martino a Strada. Lungo il tratto ripolese della Strada
Chiantigiana, un’altra piccola deviazione è consigliata all’altezza di Ponte a Ema. Da
qui, una in pochi minuti si può raggiungere il trecentesco Oratorio di Santa Caterina
delle Ruote.
Ancora pochi chilometri ed eccoci entrare nel Comune di Firenze, in piazza di Badia
a Ripoli. Qui termina la Strada Chiantigiana e con essa il nostro viaggio in questo
splendido pezzo di Toscana.
