Editor’s note
Dear Readers,
On behalf of the Scientific Committee, I have a pleasure
to recommend to you the new issue of the Polish Nursing.
In the current issue, we are continuing to implement
changes which started in 2009 i.e. we promote first student
papers prepared by members of student scientific
societies of Adam Mickiewicz University and Poznan
University of Medical Sciences. We wish to advertise our
legal section where Joanna Zdanowska, who is a research
worker at Poznan University of Medical Sciences, provides
consultation on legal solutions and regulations in
healthcare, employment, contracts, patient’s rights and soforth.
We encourage you to contact Joanna Zdanowska via
e-mail, particularly to discuss issues connected with the
amended healthcare bill. In the Genereal Section we attach
article review form so that all authors can learn about
meritorical and formal demands of our Editorial Board
before sending us articles.
The contents of this volume are diverse in character, yet
they express the scope of clinical and scientific interests
of medical personnel and research workers of medical universities
and other colleges. The opening article in this issue
contains information on breast cancer prevention, which is
one of the most important professional tasks for nurses.
This paper is particularly eminent and worth recommendation
in light of recent epidemiological data, which point to
increasing breast cancer prevalence among women. Among
review papers, we recommend the article on the risk of in-
fanticide and aggression towards infants in postnatal period.
Here, it is vital to learn and predict patient’s reactions before
they happen. In this issue you will also find an analysis
of professional tasks of paramedics i.e. on asthma as a life
threatening condition.
Wojciech Kurlapski, who is the author of the paper,
reflects on march training in cardiac rehabilitation. Additionally,
students present issues on interests and forms
of spending leisure time. This problem is particularly
noteworthy in the context of preventative health actions
in this age group.
In the further part of this issue you can find student article
on one’s mental representation of illness and a sense
of coherence as a predictor of health in SM patients. We
also encourage you to read a report from a cyclical conference
and invite you to participate in new editions of a symposium
dedicated not only to students but also to everyone
interested in the area of humanities in medicine.
In the final part you can find information about Postgraduate
School of Health Care Management. We encourage
you to become members of the Polish Society of Health
Sciences (please find a membership form attached).
Wishing you fruitful reading we would like to lift the
curtain on further changes in subsequent issues of our journal
because our goal is to continually increase our quality
and publish materials which meet educational and intellectual
needs of readers.
