The Atelier is a pioneer in the field<br />
of full-time, year-round postgraduate<br />
training for film production and<br />
distribution with a European orientation.<br />
It was founded in 2001 under<br />
the auspices of the Franco-German<br />
Film Academy, which was established<br />
in 1999 on the initiative of the German<br />
and French governments. Its<br />
aim was and continues to be to improve<br />
cinematic cooperation between<br />
the two countries. On the German<br />
side, the programme is funded<br />
by the EU Commission (Creative Europe,<br />
MEDIA) as well as by the Ministry<br />
of Science, Research and the Arts<br />
<strong>Baden</strong>-<strong>Württemberg</strong>, the Federal Government<br />
Commissioner for Culture<br />
and the Media and the Franco-German<br />
Youth Office.<br />
