I would like to express my gratitude to my thesis supervisor Mr. Mahmut Mutman, for
his continuous support, motivation and most significantly for his faith in me to be able
to pursue this study. I am always inspired by his invaluable insight and intellect both
towards the academic issues and to the world. I feel lucky to be nourished by his ideas
that guided me in this thesis as well as my whole graduate study.
I feel indebted to acknowledge the company of my fellow students and roommates
Ceren Selmanpakoğlu, Ardan Özmenoğlu, Itır Tokdemir and Tuba Ayas not just for
their support in my thesis and studies but for the sole reason of their presence at all
times. Also, the invaluable conversations that we had together positively contributed to
my knowledge in various disciplines of art, design and philosophy.
I would like to thank coffee for making me awake; beer for cheering me up; music for
keeping me alive; friends for keeping me fresh; books for making me think and lastly to
all the unnamed-untitled details that I felt the contribution to this study.
Last, but of course not least, I would like to thank my family for their continuous love
and support over all the years. Even if this has been remote for some time, I always
know their interest in my studies and most importantly they can make me feel their
presence in all the good and bad moments that I have. They just provide more than a
son and a brother could expect which made me dedicate this thesis to them although I
