THE URUISG 1 OF ALLT-UILLIGRIDH<br />

In Allt-Uilligridh there is a pool which is called to this day ' <strong>The</strong><br />

Monster's Pool.' It is said that the pool got this name because that,<br />

according to tradition, a terrible Uruisg at one time dwelt in the<br />

caverns of the pool. It happened that this Uruisg had a young<br />

male one—called Meileachan—and at times he would leave the banks<br />

of the stream and would take a turn through the fields.<br />
