6. Maintenance information<br />
Warning! There are no <strong>user</strong> serviceable parts inside the e-Brick; do not remove covers under<br />
any circumstances. Please note that if factory security seals are broken, the warranty is void. Refer<br />
to <strong>GEW</strong> or your local agent for service.<br />
6.1. Safety inspections<br />
The e-Brick forms part of a <strong>UV</strong> drying system which requires inspection operations in accordance<br />
with the schedule in section 10.<br />
6.2. Functional Testing<br />
The e-Brick forms part of a <strong>UV</strong> drying system which requires functional testing in accordance<br />
with the schedule in section 10.<br />
6.3. Specialist inspection & repair<br />
For attention of <strong>GEW</strong> (EC) Limited service department:<br />
Warning ! Danger of electric shock or death<br />
Observe the following during service operations:<br />

• Isolate the unit from the mains before attempting maintenance,<br />
removing covers, cables, or light shielding<br />
• Ensure that the internal capacitors have been discharged by leaving<br />
the system switched off for 5 minutes before carrying out any<br />
maintenance.<br />
• Isolation transformers shall be used at all times when working on live<br />
equipment. Alternatively a mains supply with appropriate earth leakage<br />
protection (30mA RCD) may be used.<br />
• Use only approved, calibrated test equipment<br />
• Use only approved components during maintenance<br />
• Always replace security seals after service operations<br />
6.3.1. Firmware update<br />
<strong>GEW</strong> service technicians may update the embedded software in an e-Brick system using a PC<br />
with suitable software <strong>and</strong> a data interface cable (<strong>GEW</strong> part 28628).<br />
6.3.2. Safety devices<br />
Refer to section 4.4 for details of the safety devices designed in to the e-Brick.<br />
Advice! If any safety feature is compromised or failure suspected, always refer to <strong>GEW</strong> for<br />
service.<br />
