The unit participated in a number of training programs organized by PCHR's Training<br />
Unit, delivering lectures on democracy. It also cooperated with the Training Unit in<br />
the training of observers to monitor the <strong>Palestinian</strong> elections. In 2005, the unit<br />
delivered 19 lectures accounting <strong>for</strong> 30 training hours in training programs organized<br />
by the Training Unit. 48 These programs were organized in Gaza, the northern Gaza<br />
Strip, Khan Yunis, Rafah and the central Gaza Strip. Training courses focused on<br />
democracy and political participation, including women's political participation. 49<br />
3.4) Media Activities Relating to Promotion of Democracy and Awareness of<br />
Civil and Political <strong>Rights</strong><br />
The unit’s staff members were interviewed by local, Arab and international media on<br />
issues related to democracy and human rights. In 2005, the number of these<br />
interviews was 23.<br />
