Compensation Cases be<strong>for</strong>e Israeli Courts<br />
In 2005, the unit filed 14 cases against the State of Israel demanding compensation <strong>for</strong><br />
damages incurred to <strong>Palestinian</strong> civilians by IOF:<br />
• The demolition of a house belonging to Zaina al-Zurai'ei by IOF on 18 May 2004.<br />
• Killing of 2 on-duty nurses by IOF in Gaza on 5 February 2003.<br />
• Killing of Mahmoud Mohammed al-Qayed by IOF on 7 November 2003.<br />
• Killing of Rami Abu al-'Oun by IOF on 12 May 2004.<br />
• Injuring of Nemer Abu 'As'ous by IOF on 7 November 2003.<br />
• Detention and damage of goods belonging to 'Emad Qeshta by IOF on 28<br />
November 2003.<br />
• Killing of Sayed Au Safra near his house in the Bedouin Village, in the northern<br />
Gaza Strip, on 28 November 2003.<br />
• The death of a prisoner, Shadi Abu Dahrouj, in an Israeli prison in 1999.<br />
• Killing of 2 children, while they were on the roof of their home in Rafah, by IOF<br />
on 18 May 2004.<br />
• Killing of Ahmed Saleh al-Qiq by IOF, following his arrest on 6 August 2004.<br />
• Running down of 'Alaa' Hassan al-Hourani, after he had fallen from a tractor<br />
inside an Israeli settlement in the Gaza Strip on 21 February 2005.<br />
• Torturing of Khaled Joma'a al-Shami during interrogation by IOF, which resulted<br />
in him being unable to work.<br />
• Detention and damage of goods belonging to Mohammed Hussein Qudaih by IOF<br />
at Rafah International Crossing Point.<br />
• Destruction of 8 houses belonging to the 'Awad family by IOF.<br />
In addition, the unit pursued 28 cases carried over from 2004.<br />
