NGOs, particularly PCHR, in protecting<br />
and promoting human rights and<br />
democracy.<br />
The participants evaluated the courses as<br />
follows:<br />
• They acquired new in<strong>for</strong>mation on human<br />
rights and international humanitarian law.<br />
• They made new contacts.<br />
• They acquired new in<strong>for</strong>mation on human<br />
rights teaching at schools.<br />
• They acquired in<strong>for</strong>mation on the role of<br />
religions, particularly Islam, in promoting<br />
human rights.<br />
• They concluded that <strong>Palestinian</strong> women<br />
still do not enjoy many of the right<br />
prescribed in CEDAW.<br />
• They gained greater understanding of the<br />
role of NGOs, particularly PCHR, in<br />
protecting and promoting human rights.<br />
The participants suggested the following:<br />
• Holding more similar training courses.<br />
• Holding specialized training courses on<br />
the rights of the child.<br />
• Holding training courses specifically on<br />
methods of human rights teaching.<br />
• Providing school libraries with PCHR’s<br />
publications.<br />
The questionnaire explained the following:<br />
• The contents of lectures were appropriate<br />
to the trainees' expectations.<br />
• The trainers were qualified and efficient.<br />
• Training methods varied.<br />
• Interaction between trainers and trainees<br />
and between the trainees and the contents<br />
of training courses enhanced.<br />
The unit head, who attended all lectures,<br />
noticed the following:<br />
• Trainees demonstrated increased respect<br />
<strong>for</strong> discussion and other opinions.<br />
• Trainees demonstrated increased abilities<br />
to express themselves.<br />
• Attendance increased on the last days of<br />
courses.
