the map for 2020 – the target year of the 2009 Renewable
Energy Directive - shows the increasingly important role of renewable
energy. in 2020, 230 Gw of wind power is expected
to supply between 14 and 18% of EU electricity demand, of
which 40 Gw would be offshore. wind energy becomes more
significant in the north sea neighbouring countries, the baltic
sea and in the iberian Peninsula.
