2. FMFIA Section 2, Operational Material Weaknesses. The Components use an entitywide,<br />

risk-based, self-assessment approach to establish and assess internal controls for<br />

mission-essential operations. Table 1b lists the material weaknesses disclosed from these<br />

annual assessments. The Department aligns its <strong>report</strong>ed material weaknesses into<br />

17 categories, as outlined in the Department <strong>of</strong> Defense Instruction (DoDI)<br />

Number 5010.40, “Managers Internal Control Program Procedures”, dated July 29, 2010.<br />
