6.6.3 GE1/1 system cost estimate (on <strong>an</strong>d <strong>of</strong>f-detector)<br />

The GE1/1 system is comprised <strong>of</strong> <strong>an</strong> 36 super chambers in one ring per endcap. For <strong>the</strong> two end caps <strong>the</strong>re will<br />

be two rings hence a total <strong>of</strong> 72 super chambers <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> on-detector part. Table 14 shows <strong>the</strong> estimated cost <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

GE1/1 system in both endcaps. The cost <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> power supplies is also included assuming one super chamber is fed<br />

with separate ch<strong>an</strong>nels <strong>of</strong> low <strong>an</strong>d high voltage <strong>for</strong> each side <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> super chamber.<br />

At <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> writing <strong>the</strong> GE2/1 system segmentation is still to be defined so <strong>the</strong> on-detector electronics cost <strong>for</strong><br />

GE2/1 c<strong>an</strong>not be done at present. The <strong>of</strong>f-detector electronics however combines data from GE1/1 <strong>an</strong>d GE2/1<br />

toge<strong>the</strong>r. For this reason provision has been made <strong>for</strong> including data from GE2/1 in <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>f-detector electronics<br />

design cost estimate. Table 15 shows <strong>the</strong> cost estimate <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>f detetor electronics components assuming 72 super<br />

chambers <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> GE1/1 <strong>an</strong>d making provision <strong>for</strong> links <strong>for</strong>m GE2/1.<br />
