Text language The language to be used for the spell and grammar checking can be selected from this list. If the spell check is enabled for this language, a check mark is displayed in front of it. Ignore Once, Ignore All, and Add Selecting one of these buttons has the same effect as the item in the AutoCorrect context menu detailed above. Change Replaces the unknown word with the suggested word. If the sentence was edited, the whole sentence is changed. For grammar, the suggested replacement is used to correct the text. Change All This replaces all instances of the word with the selected replacement word. AutoCorrect This behaves in a similar fashion to AutoCorrect described above. However, the word is not replaced and you must select one of the Change buttons. Undo This button is enabled when a change has been made to the sentence, in case you wish to reverse the change. The button is not accessible if you use a Change button to replace a word. Options Selecting this opens the Options dialogue box where you can select user defined dictionaries and set the spell checking rules. Note Grammar It is recommended you run the Spelling and Grammar checker twice on your document. A minor software problem may prevent it detecting all the grammar errors in a single pass. By default, Check grammar as you type is enabled in Tools > Options > Language Settings > Writing Aids > Options. AutoSpellcheck must be enabled for this to work. If any errors are detected, they are shown underlined by a wavy blue line. The first entry in the menu informs you of the suspected broken grammatical rule. The second menu item in the left example is Explanations, which if selected opens your browser and takes you to a web page offering more information about the error. This entry is not always present in the context menu, as seen in the right example. In the second section of the menu is the suggested correction. Clicking this changes the text to the suggestion. The example to the right appears blank, but clicking here removes the extra space causing the error. In the third section of the menu you can select to ignore the indicated error, or to open the Spelling and Grammar checker. This dialog is shown below. This example displays the URL which will take you to a web site for more information on the error indicated. Additional grammar checking rules can be selected through Tools > Extension Manager > English spelling dictionaries > Options.
