Executive Summary:<br />
Back in 1994, E+Co started building a portfolio in <strong>the</strong> clean energy industry by raising funds among foundations and<br />
development agencies. Since <strong>the</strong>n, 1,000 energy enterprises in Asia, Africa and South America were supported with<br />
business development or technical assistance and 200 benefited from a loan or equity investment. E+Co’s $15.4m<br />
mobilized assets are invested in a technology agnostic portfolio that achieves a “balanced scorecard” per<strong>for</strong>mance along<br />
a triple bot<strong>to</strong>m line based on environmental, social and financial returns. In 2007, investee companies provided clean<br />
and modern energy <strong>to</strong> 4.3m people, supported 4,000 jobs and mobilized $183m capital, <strong>the</strong>re<strong>for</strong>e ensuring E+Co’s<br />
sustainable impact. In 2008, <strong>the</strong> Financial Times rewarded E+Co <strong>for</strong> its achievements as a sustainable inves<strong>to</strong>r.<br />
