Acknowledgements Acknowledgements To write this dissertation, I relied on a great number of people who not only shared their knowledge and insight with me, but also supported me in many other ways. I would like to take a moment or two to thank them and acknowledge their contributions to this work. First, I would like to thank my supervisor Sven Voelpel for his support and relentless confidence in my work and my abilities. He inspired a lot of procedural knowledge on how academia and, more specifically, the publishing process work. Without his constant efforts to network and obtain data access, the data basis for this dissertation would not only have been a lot smaller, but I would also have missed exceptional opportunities to talk to and receive feedback from outstanding researchers. By this, and by providing a lot of autonomy, he created a unique working environment that I have come to cherish very much. Second, I would like to thank Torsten Biemann, who started out as my supervising Post- Doc and ended up as a collaborating Junior Professor and friend, for his invaluable support. He astonished me with his methodological knowledge and sharp wit, his patience in answering all my questions, his critical but always constructive feedback, which he always provided with incredible speed (invaluable for a last-minute worker like me), and for his ready advice. I will miss his review comments which were always very direct, but full of humor. I have never smiled so many times while actually reading profound critique. Third, I would like to thank the entire <strong>Jacobs</strong> Center for turning my PhD years into such an incredible learning experience. In the spirit of (interdisciplinary) knowledge transfer, I was able to broaden my horizon consistently, which did not only happen thanks to the many guest lecturers we have had, but first and foremost due to the diverse research the members of the Center engage in and share with each other.
