by Dexter <strong>and</strong> Silverton in 1968 presented the structure <strong>of</strong> [CeMo 12 O 42 ] 8– . 13 This species<br />

consists <strong>of</strong> six pairs <strong>of</strong> face-shared octahedra (Mo 2 O 9 unit) resulting in icosahedral geometry.<br />

The molybdenum atom positions with mean Mo…Mo separations <strong>of</strong> 3.18 <strong>and</strong> 3.84 Å (face<strong>and</strong><br />

corner-shared contacts respectively). 1a<br />
