When applying such synthesis procedure to the early lanthanides, then different products are<br />

obtained. Preliminary X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed the novel, lanthanidecontaining<br />

56-tungsten isopolyanion {W 56 } family {[Ln 2 (H 2 O) 11 W 28 O 93 (OH) 2 ] 14− } 2 , Ln =<br />

La–Gd. So far, we have obtained single-crystal XRD analyses for the lanthanum <strong>and</strong> cerium<br />

derivatives. 16 After successive filtrations, another crystalline product is formed which turned<br />

out to be {Ln 2 W 22 } based on IR <strong>and</strong> single crystal XRD. Polyanions 1–10 are isostructural<br />
