We also tried to synthesize the lanthanide-free isopolyanion [H 2 W 22 O 74 ] 14− by following
the same synthetic procedure as 1–10, but in the absence of lanthanides. We were able to
isolate a solid compound with an IR spectrum very similar to that of 1–10 (Figure 3.7) and
different from paratungstate and metatungstate (Figure 3.8).
